Most Unusual Georgian "Trade Gorget" In Low Grade Silver
I know little about this item other than that these were made for local native chiefs or chieftains. They served two purposes. The first was to identify that the chief was pro British, the second was as a goodwill gift from The King. Other gifts were old muskets and beads. It tests as low grade silver. read more

The Tynemouth Artillery Volunteers claim to be the first ranked artillery volunteer corps being raised on the 7th May 1859. They were raised as the 1st Northumberland Artillery Volunteers in Tynemouth. Their first practice was using 70 year old smoothbore cannons at Tynemouth Castle. Worn 1881-1901. A Lovely plate in silver/gilt and blue enamel. Unusually the enamel is in pristine condition. They rarely survive intact. some slight gilt loss but this doesn't detract from the badge. The 1st Battalion was on home service for most of the time at Newry in Ireland. An excellent undamaged HP in silver and gilt. The Regiment was fromed in 1881 from the 65th (North Yorkshire ) Regiment and the 84th (York & Lancaster) Regiment. In this period they fought in the Sudan and in Egypt at both El Teb and Souakin. They later fought in the Boer War and were part of the force that relieved Ladysmith. read more

A really magnificent item it carries It is a large item 5" tall and 5" wide. It is a Maltese 8 pointed cross carrying The Georgian Crown and Coat of Arms to the centre with the rose of England and Thistle of Scotland above the Dieu Et Mon Droit motto. A truly superb item. This unit had its origins in the 12 corps of Northumberland Rifle Volunteers. It became the 1st VB Northumberland Fusiliers in February 1883. Victorian 1st Argyll and Bute Artillery Volunteers Helmet Plate
Formed at Oban Oct 10th 1861 There were subsequently 12 batteries. They were consolidated again as the 1st in May 1880. 211 men of the 1st A&B Artillery volunteered for service in the Boer War, but only 8 were selected for service. The pipe band had over 30 pipers and 3/4th of the men were Gaelic speakers. read more

Unusual gorget possibly military or for civic use. The bee was the symbol of Napoleon 1st, buit this is later most likely 2nd empire. Gilt on white metal the bee separate and gilded. Nice unusual item. read more

The Royal Scots Officers Last Shako (1869-1878) gilt Shako Badge
As ever, the best till last! A stunner this is K&K 150. It has the order of the thistle in a garter band with The Royal Regiment in a band above with St Andrew in a cartouche at the bottom and foliated figure 1. 2 lugs to rear.
