The Bedfordshire Regiment QVC Officers Helmet Plate
Worn 1881-1901. A Lovely plate in silver/gilt and blue enamel. Unusually the enamel is in pristine condition. They rarely survive intact. some slight gilt loss but this doesn't detract from the badge. The 1st Battalion was on home service for most of the time at Newry in Ireland. Moving to India it fought at the relief of Chitral in 1898. The 2nd Battalion served in India/ Burma and in the Boer war.
