York & Lancaster Regiment Officers QVC Helmet plate 1881-1901

An excellent undamaged HP in silver and gilt. The Regiment was fromed in 1881 from the 65th (North Yorkshire ) Regiment and the 84th (York & Lancaster) Regiment. In this period they fought in the Sudan and in Egypt at both El Teb and Souakin. They later fought in the Boer War and were part of the force that relieved Ladysmith.
