This is as Bloomer 223. The unit originated from the Banffshire Rifle Volunteers and became the 6th VB Gordons in 1884.Over eighty men served with the regulars in the Boer War. This was a much travelled unit. Coming from the Galloway Rifle Volunteers in 1881 they became a Volunteer Battn of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.
