I believe that the gilded badge was only worn by senior officers, It came with a helmet I bought that was owned by the Earl of Dalhousie who was C.O of the Forfar and Kincardine Voluntary Artillery. This is a heavy cast example of the larger badge that was worn by officers and senior NCOs. There are faint imprints of a hallmark on the mouth of the buglehorn.
