Dating from c 1850 The Bedford Light Infantry or Bedfordshire Light Infantry Militia were originally formed c 1798 for home service to release troops for the Napoleonic Wars. The Later became the 3rd militia Battalion of the Bedfordshire regiment. This is a superb plate a silver plated back plate on this a silver star plate on this a gilt crown over a gilt strung bugle with a silver numeral 18 to centre. below this a gilt scroll with Bedford Light Infantry.
