3rd The Buffs (Royal East Kent)Regiment Georgian Officers Shoulder Belt Plate

Discussed in Parkyn this early design was worn from around 1795 but this is slightly later as it carries the battle honours for The Peninsula and the very scarce Douro I would date it from the 1820s. It has a gilded backplate (gilt worn) to the top a straight scroll Peninsula below a Georgian Crown a strap with the Regiment Motto "Veteri frondescit honore. "Its Ancient Honour Flourishes" An extremely rare piece of military history. In the time this was worn the regiment served 1821-30 New South Wales, 1828-1843 India.
