Georgian Leicester Militia Officers Shoulder Belt Plate
An early example of this very scarce plate. It dates from around 1798 and is in lovely condition much better than the photos display. The Georgian Crown surmounts a strap which is engraved with Leicester Militia and with GR to centre the militias were stood down after the threat of Napoleons invasion receded and were reinstated periodically to manage home disrule, when needed. It came with the other later Victorian plate also listed which belonged to the Paget family. Lovely scarce piece
