68th Durham Regiment (DLI) Victorian Officers Shoulder Belt Plate
This is Parkyn 463 and was worn between 1830 and 1855. Silver ornaments on a plain plate. The ornaments are a scroll with Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees to top. The unique Guelphic pattern Crown, a strung bugle with 68 to middle a laurel and palm wreath and a bottom scroll with Nivelle, Orthes and Peninsula. The rear shows old repairs and a prong missing. These do not detract from the front of the plate and could be easily repaired. A very scarce piece of military history.
