Argyll Highland Rifle Volunteers Officers Victorian Plaid Brooch

Formed from the various Argyll Rifle Volunteer units and named Highland RV in 1880. This short lived unit became the 5th Volunteer Battn The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in 1887. 61 men served in the Boer War. A really large, heavy and lovely silvered example.
