Cameron Highlanders 1st Vol Battn Officers Shoulder Belt Plate
A very scarce item. Silver plated back plate Copper Cross and Sphinx with a gilt thistle and crown on a silvered background.Worn 1901-08 This was worn by an officers in the 1st Inverness Highland Volunteer Battalion of the Camerons. They had their origins in the Inverness-shire Rifle Volunteers and were formed as the 1st VB in 1887. They sent over 250 to the Boer War and a further 80 men served in the Lovats Scouts.
