QVC 1st Vol Battn The South Lancashire Regiment Officers Helmet Plate

A Very fine example of this scarce helmet plate. The 1st Volunteer Battn of The South Lancashire Regiment (The Prince of Wale's Volunteers were formed in 1886 from the various Lancashire Rifle Volunteers based at Warrington and Newton le Willows. They contributed a large number of men for the service Battalions fighting in the Boer War. A silvered back plate with gilded scrolls and sphinx. My photo does not do it justice!
