Officers Plaid Brooch to the 9th (Highlanders) Battalion The Royal Scots.

The only kilted battalion and nicknamed "The Dandy Ninth" It was raised during the Boer War and recruited from Highlanders resident in Edinburgh. It saw action in France and took part in the Somme battles at High Wood, Beaumont Hamel, Arras and at Ypres at Pilckhem and the Menin Road Bridges. A lovely example with the green enamel intact to centre.Central star in unmarked silver. Maker marked J Stewart & Son 88 George St Edinburgh.
