93rd Sutherland Highlanders 1836 Hallmarked Plaid Brooch

Superb example of this wonderful plaid brooch to the 93rd who were to gain eternal fame as The Thin Red Line in the Crimean war. This would have been worn by a senior officer over 20 years earlier than the Crimean War! It carries the Edinburgh Hallmarks for 1836. It weighs 80 grams and is nearly 4 inches in diameter.
