Victorian Royal Scot Fusiliers Helmet Plate

This much misidentified badge is NOT from the Royal Scots Greys it is an early helmet plate on the RSF shako of the 1830s Above the thistle was a crown and above that was a cockade with the regimental number XXI in gilt metal. if you google RSF shako, you will see it. This example is in superb gilt on brass. A variant was also worn by the Ayr and Wigtown Militia
