A very scarce and unusual 1878-81 pattern officers Helmet plate. This unit spent most its time overseas. The Dragon was awarded after service in nthe First Opium War and in the very short period that this badge was worn served in the West Indies,Malta and in the Afghan wars of 1879-80. In 1881, whilst still overseas, they became the 2nd Battalion the 64th (North Staffordshire )Regiment. An extremely scarce item. K&K202
