The York & Lancaster Regiment KC Officers Helmet Plate

This is the younger brother of the QVC plate already listed. The regiment saw service in both Egypt and Sudan immediately after its formation in 1881, and also during the Second Boer War, when it took part in the Relief of Ladysmith. This badge dates from 1901 and would have been worn until 1908. The rose in the middle has a gilt overlay on the silver base.
