Georgian Thoresby Volunteers Shoulder Belt Plate
An uncleaned Silver plated copper Shoulder Belt plate to the Thoresby Volunteers.The Thoresby Volunteers were raised circa 1802-03 and commanded by Charles Herbert Pierpoint who was 2nd Earl Manvers of Thoresby Hall, Nottinghamshire. They were a militia unit during the Napoleonic Wars and also served to keep civilian peace. They were deployed in the Nottingham Lace Riots in the early 1800s.
